Villa Gionis

Breathtaking views overlooking the island of Ithaca

Villa Gionis (scops owl) is located in the quiet village of Evreti. The name has a personal meaning to the family, but when visiting Kefalonia you will see lots of Owl souvenirs. In Greece, the owl is a symbol of wisdom and prudence. Greek mythology, the owl was the embodiment of the goddess Athena’s, (the goddess of wisdom) intellectual powers. While the Romans and people from other cultures around the world associate the owl with misfortune and witchcraft, the ancient Athenians considered it a good omen. If you are lucky, you may see or hear an owl during your stay. Owl boxes have been put up to encourage the owl population.

The villa is a short drive from Fiscardo, the northern point of the island. Fiskardo is a beautiful place to visit in Kefalonia as it has retained the Venetian architecture from the earthquakes. It is a lively coastal town with popular restaurants and cafes and beautiful beaches.
